Getting Cheap Used Autos Is a Question of Negotiation Skills
by Terry Bolton
If you are in the market of used autos and you're facing a car dealer, you need to have some negotiation skills. First, it is of great importance that you show up prepared and ready to counter anything that may come up during the used car dealing process. For example you might bring ads from other vehicle dealerships with you as an extra weapon. Another perparatory task is to finance your automobile loan before you arrive at the used motorcar dealership. Thus you can avoid paying unnecessary extra fees. It's always good to bring a friend with you for extra support when you are looking for a used car.
To accomplish successful negotiating with the used auto seller, you must stay and remain positive as well as confident all the time. It is extremely important that you cool down and listen to the used auto seller; don't talk down to him or her.
A seller of used motorcars is paid to negotiate you into paying more money. Your purpose is the opposite. Be aware of some car seller tricks that you can expect to be exposed to from the auto salesman. The used auto seller may tell you that the vehicle model car you are looking for are flying off of the lot and may not be available for the same deal tomorrow. Pretend to leave the auto seller's place, and I bet he's willingly will ease up and try to change his or her attitude, as well as how long the deal will be there.
If the motorcar seller show you his or her list of sold cars and brags about his confidence, then tell him that if this is the case he or she obviously doesn't need your money. Another trick is telling you that he or she already has another offer on the table from a woman that is willing to pay more money than you are willing to. Answer the salesperson that if he or she has promised the car to another person, you are not interested in stepping on someone else's toes and pretend to leave.
A classic trick is to tell you that they have paid a high price for the vechile. Well, this is the easiest case to handle, as long as you have the list price of the vechile. And this is just another reason to be prepared when you enter a used auto negotiation.
