The Old Car Part – Junk or Jewel? Terry
Sometimes, an old car part or two might find its way into the garage. Even though they are unsightly, we often just keep them there, hoping they'll disappear one day. But the fact is, they won't just vanish; we have to get rid of them! But before we do so, could there be any use for an old car part?
A New Lease on Life There might, depending on who you ask. For some car owners, old doesn't necessarily mean unusable. There are many mechanics who can breathe life into old parts and reuse them for lesser purposes. Or if they're really good, they can figure out a way to make the part work normally again. These guys are usually very rich! The Art of the Matter Other people may want your car part for other reasons, like art. Sure, we've all heard of the stereotypical mechanic artist who sleeps in junkyards and lives on nothing but bread and coffee. But junk artists are real. And you never know, your useless piece of metal may be just the thing he's looking for to finish his Leaning Tower of Pieces (stay clear of this at all costs). The Old Car Part – A Homemaker's Dream Bet you didn't think of using car parts in your house! Here are a few ideas (it depends on what you have lying in your garage of course): ? Coil Spring – Wine Holder ? Steering Wheel – Fruit Bowl ? Car Seats – Unique chairs for TV room ? Fog Lights – unusual floor lights ? Tail Lights – bedside lamp The key is to have the old car part cleaned up first then retooled for your own purposes. This will take an artistic hand in some cases but how hard can it be to clean a coil spring? Just imagine offering wine to your house guests and letting the bottle stand in a polished car spring. Now that's entertaining visitors!
